Rock the Casbah

France has gone there, and Gaddafi don't like it.

Let's hope this looks more like the Gulf War of 1991 and less like the Iraq War of 2003-present.

So you would rather we stop short of unseating Ghadafi like we did with Saddam in 1991 so he can go on murdering his citizens?

In Madison, the liberals could have had a 2 for 1 protest. One against Walker and the union bashing and 1 against Obama for starting the new war.

Deekaman, I would rather this continue to be a true international coalition like in 1991, instead of the U.S. picking up the vast majority of the expense. I would rather this not turn into a ground occupation with the U.S. installing a puppet government. I would rather that the duration be counted in weeks than in years. I think you are being deliberately obtuse just to start an argument.

Dan, Obama didn't start this war. The U.N. did, with most of the heavy lifting coming from France and the U.K. And by the way, Madison is having a 2-for-1 protest of the Walker bill and the Iraq War to mark the anniversary of its start.

Yup. What you said, Jill.

Right. And the U.N. started the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, right?
And I guess, heavy hitting doesn't mean about 200 or so missles and flyovers by the U.S. Navy, Marines and probably Air Force.

France has been the war's leading advocate, Dan. They are the ones who do not want NATO in charge (probably because Turkey has less enthusiasm for it). They are the ones who will likely stick around after the U.S. pulls back.

Which Alliance? No Treaty has been approved by the Senate.

Which War? No War has been declared by Congress.

In America, such things are required by the Constitution.

The UN and the Arab League just demonstrated that they have more control over our military than our Congress or our system of government.

This situation resembles a King doing whatever he pleases.
