A Very Liberace Christmas

My younger readers may not remember Wisconsin native Liberace. He was a talented classical pianist who was also a flamboyant showman. Not since Sally Rand had a performer so successfully turned a highbrow art form into lowbrow entertainment.

Here is the musician who dressed like a human Christmas tree all year round playing a Christmas medley:

Too bad the Liberace museum in Vegas closed down. They want to make a nationwide tour of the museum and I am sure it will stop in West Allis

Yes, I wish I'd made the effort to see the museum on one of my previous trips to Vegas. It was always on my list of things to do one of these days, but I don't usually rent a car, so it's easier to just see things on the Strip near my hotel.

I had an aunt who loved his playing, and insisted that his name was "Lee Beraci", because only an Italian could make such beautiful music. She wouldn't accept that a Polish boy from West Allis could be the highest-paid entertainer of his time.

Thanks for posting this....he really could tickle those ivories!
